Early morning breaks as my alarm goes off. Sitting up, I rub my sleepy eyes with a yawn. I set off to the kitchen and feel my mother’s dead, cold air drafts on my bare feet.
“I didn’t want this to happen.” I whispered softly. The drafts move away as slow as slugs. Sighing, I make myself breakfast and change into my school clothes.
Then I hear a knock at the door. Walking back downstairs and to the front door, I open it just a crack.
“‘Excuse me miss, does myialyn live here?”
I push the door open further and look at the man with curiosity. “Sorry sir, you’re speaking to her.”
“Oh!” The man exclaimed.”My apologizes, miss.”
“What do you want with me?” I asked with a hiss. The cold drafts of my mother floe close to me; whispering the softest words.
The man stands there with his hands in his pockets and gives a sigh. “Myialyn, you are having to come to Saintful Hope Zoo,”
“Who are you?” I interrupted tensely.
“Griffin, I’m the owner of the zoo. Please, we really need extra hands-”
I stop him with raising my hand dangerously and growled, “Look Griffin, I don’t want to work at the zoo right now.” I soften my tone a little. “Look, I’ve got school to do; the zoo just won’t work for me. Not until summer I’m sure; let me at least have time to think.”
Griffin frowns subsiding. “Fine, only until summer.”
“Look! If you’ve got a problem with that you should be asking someone else who's more willing and doesn’t have school!” I shout. Griffin slinks out of my line of sight.
